"SURVIVING PATROL" Strategies and Tactics for Response to Unusual Incidents

Instructor: Gregory Bennett - Greg is a retired Lieutenant from the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office, NJ., and holds a Master’s degree in Human Resources, Training, and Development, as well as Bachelors in Criminal Justice. With 25 years of law enforcement and 28 years of fire service experience, Greg adds a unique level of experience and skills to the GPS Instructor Staff. He served as the sole MCSO instructor for all areas of Incident Command and Management; Domestic Preparedness and Response; Hazardous Materials; CBRNE; Radiological/Nuclear Awareness; Respiratory Protection; Counterterrorism Awareness and Emergency Response to Terrorism training, and is eager to assist Law Enforcement, Fire/Rescue, EMS and other Emergency Response Personnel in these areas. Greg will provide your emergency responders with the knowledge and tactics needed to properly deal with these unusual incidents.  

 

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course is designed to promote awareness by law enforcement of some of the dangers they are potentially exposed to when they respond to service calls which are traditionally handled by other first responders. These incidents include structure fires; vehicle fires, vehicle accidents, airbag concerns; hybrid vehicle incidents; solar energy incidents; terrorism response; hazardous materials and methamphetamine lab hazards.

 INSTRUCTIONAL GOAL: The goal of this course is to identify these life threatening incidents, define basic terms associated with these incidents and propose safety and survival strategies and tactics to be used by officers. Additionally, the course will examine case studies, utilize demonstrative videos and facilitate group discussions through scenario based training. This course will provide police responders with the new skills they will need to survive responses to unusual incidents while on patrol. The course is designed to be beneficial to new officers as well as veteran officers with years of road duty experience.
